"A Featherd Assistant" is a poem about a small bird, a female juvenile robin that visits the garden. It captures her foraging on the ground while the garden is being watered or immediately afterward. Hopping across the damp earth, she pecks at insects; her movements evoke scenes typical of the forest ecosystem, reminiscent of the interactions between medium-sized mammals and small birds.

「羽のある相棒」は、庭にくる小さな鳥、メスのヨーロッパコマドリ若鳥を詠んだ詩です。庭の水やり中やその直後に、彼女が地面で餌を探す様子を観察しています。彼女は、水で湿った地面をぴょんぴょんと移動しながら、虫をついばんでいきます。その姿は、森の生態系の中で中型の哺乳類と小さな鳥たちの間で見られる光景を彷彿とさせるものです。

A Feathered Assistant

A tiny morning star
Her "chi-chi-chi" entrance
The music holds a real appeal

She wears a golden-spotted brown coat
And has a mottled golden-buff head
Her contact call is a real deal

Signalling me she's ready
Whatever tiny insects or seeds
For her breakfast No.2

That bright, curious look
Is endearing,
Those big, shiny eyes
Are enquiring,
The quick head tilts
Are wondering,

Hunting is her full-body endeavour
To launch from the ground
To swiftly snatch an insect
From a tree bark and a fence post
Vertical pouncing!
Jump-attack-fluttering up!

She is a tiny "Lone Ranger"
Her soft "chi-chi-chi" exit
The music holds a real peace

羽のある相棒

朝の小さなスター
「チ・チ・チ」と鳴きながら現れる
その調べには心惹かれる魅力がある

金色の斑点がある茶色の羽衣をまとい
頭部は金褐色と淡黄色のまだら模様
伝達するその鳴き声は
実に本格的だ

「準備はいいよ」と私に知らせる
小さな虫であれ、種であれ
彼女の二回目の朝食のために

その明るく好奇心に満ちた表情は
愛らしく
大きく輝く瞳は
何かを問いかけ
素早く首をかしげる仕草は
不思議そうに何かを探っているようだ

狩りは彼女にとって全身運動
地面から飛び立ち
木の幹やフェンスの杭にいる虫を
さっと捕まえる
垂直方向への急襲！
ジャンプ、攻撃、そして羽ばたきながら舞い上がる！

彼女は小さな一匹狼
「チ・チ・チ」と柔らかく鳴きながら去っていく
その調べには安らぎが宿っている

Day 4.  🌊🦭 "The Inner Compass" is a poem depicting a gray seal resting on the shore, protected by m arine environmentalists , surrounded by ribbons. This poem aims to raise awareness of the lives of marine life and the health of the ocean.
